Blue Corsia Carbon Credits with Permanence Insurance

High Integrity Coastal Carbon Solutions

A nature based climate solution delivering measurable carbon impact, biodiversity protection, and long-term environmental resilience.

Project Overview

The Blue Carbon Program is a large scale coastal ecosystem restoration and conservation initiative focused on the protection and enhancement of high value blue carbon habitats. The program is designed to generate high integrity, scientific carbon credits while delivering significant biodiversity, coastal protection, and community co-benefits.

The project targets long term, measurable carbon sequestration through the preservation and restoration of coastal ecosystems, supported by robust governance, independent verification, and institutional-grade monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV).

Carbon Methodology

The program applies recognised blue carbon methodologies aligned with leading voluntary carbon market standards. Carbon benefits are generated through a combination of ecosystem conservation, restoration, and avoided degradation, with a strong focus on long-term permanence.

Key features include:

Delivering Impact and Integrity

This approach provides transparent, consistent, and defensible carbon accounting, meeting the standards expected by institutional buyers and long-term investors. The project operates under a multi-layered monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) framework to ensure accuracy and ongoing compliance. In addition, a defined portion of project revenues is reinvested into ecosystem management and community development, supporting long-term environmental stewardship and regional economic resilience.

CORSIA Tagged Blue Carbon Credits

Madagascar Blue Carbon Project

The Madagascar Blue Carbon Project generates high-integrity carbon credits from the protection and restoration of coastal ecosystems, including mangrove forests and associated tidal wetlands. These ecosystems play a critical role in climate mitigation by capturing and storing significant amounts of carbon in both vegetation and coastal sediments.

Credits produced from the project are CORSIA-tagged, meaning they meet the eligibility requirements of the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation.

International Civil Aviation Organization established CORSIA to enable the global aviation sector to offset emissions growth through the use of high-quality carbon credits that meet strict environmental integrity standards.

What CORSIA Tagging Means

CORSIA tagging indicates that carbon credits meet the programme’s criteria for environmental integrity, transparency, and traceability. Credits that are CORSIA-eligible can be used by airlines and aviation companies participating in the scheme to offset emissions associated with international flights.

Blue Carbon and Aviation Decarbonisation

Coastal ecosystems such as mangroves are among the most effective natural carbon sinks on Earth. In addition to their climate benefits, they provide essential ecological services including shoreline protection, biodiversity conservation, and support for local fisheries and coastal livelihoods.

By generating CORSIA tagged blue carbon credits, the Madagascar project connects the protection of these ecosystems with the global effort to reduce aviation emissions.

This approach allows the aviation sector to support nature based climate solutions while contributing to the long term protection of critical coastal environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the credits verified?

Yes. The credits are subject to independent third-party verification under internationally recognised standards applicable to blue carbon ecosystems. Verification documentation will be made available to buyers as part of formal due diligence, and credits are structured to be Paris Agreement–aligned and CORSIA-tagged, subject to final issuance.

What makes the methodology different?

The project applies science-based blue carbon methodologies designed specifically for coastal and marine ecosystems, incorporating robust measurement of carbon stored in biomass and sediments. This approach moves beyond high-level modelling by using direct ecosystem-level data, conservative baselines, and long-term monitoring to enhance confidence in quantified outcomes.

Can institutions purchase credits in tranches or through offtake agreements?

Yes. Credits can be acquired through structured tranche purchases, forward contracts, or long-term offtake agreements, allowing institutional buyers to align procurement with compliance timelines, portfolio strategies, and forward demand planning.

How is sovereign participation structured?

The project operates in alignment with national climate and coastal management frameworks. A defined allocation of credits or proceeds is reserved in accordance with applicable national climate law, supporting host-country commitments while maintaining clarity of ownership and transferability for buyers.

How are proceeds used?

Proceeds are reinvested into project additionality, including long-term mangrove and coastal ecosystem protection, monitoring and governance, and community-based programmes that support livelihoods, climate resilience, and sustainable use of coastal resources.
